14 September 2011 - Twitter affected by internet outage - seems down
Twitter seemed to be down in parts of the UK and Europe from 10pm until 11:30pm on 14 September. Twitter API status said there was some kind of massive Internet Outage.
UPDATE: At 11:29pm UK time its back! No idea what really happened. It seems like Twitter was actually fine all the time, but an outage in the routers responsible for peering (managing traffic between service providers) caused a problem. Excatly where and how I do not know. All a bit too fragile for my liking.
UPDATE: Twitter were of course well aware of the issue, and managing it through their incident management team.

status.twitter.com and the blog were unaffected
Isnt it difficult to find out whats going on without Twitter!
