#wpc11 - Vision Keynote – community insight
A funny thing happened today. Microsoft asked me to be the Community Insight blogger for their Worldwide Partner Conference. It was an honour and quite a responsibility. It is because I have been one of the leading tweeters about Microsoft at their WPC events for a couple of years, and I guess because I advise partners on their Microsoft strategy. I took notes for two hours as Ballmer spoke, live tweeted the things he was saying, then listened intently to the buzz on Twitter to see what people were thinking about it. Then I wrote up my thoughts. Microsoft published them word for word on their own web site. Now that is what I call two way engagement and power to them for embracing it. You can read my post (and there will be one more each day during the conference) at http://microsoftpartnernetwork.com/News/Permalink/251
After the blog post I participated in MPNlive - a round table of analysts, and journalists and Microsoft partner focused people like me. We talked about the trainsition to the cloud, and the bets for this year versus those that needed more time. It is easy to get carried away by the hype but the cloud is definitely happening quickly - and actualy can be useful in competitive accounts where there is an older incumbent technology. A good example of this is Lotus Domino and Notes, where it is easier for the most part to move to Office365 than it is to rip and replace.
Interesting times.
Heres a screenshot of me participating on Skype (in the little screen), Tweeting and my Keynote Blog all on the Microsoft web site.
You can follow me for the rest of this week on Twitter @nuxnix or at the #MPNlive or the #wpc11 hashtags.
