Twitter Development

'Devnest' is a developer and startup-centric monthly gathering on the first Tuesday of each month at the conference suite at the headquarters of The Guardian in London sponsored by The Guardian Open Platform and Paypal with a little help from Multizone.

All are welcome, although the content is best suited to people who are already developing applications that use social media API's like the Twitter API or who intend to start building a Social Media or Twitter related application in the future. At 9pm we adjourn to the bar.

Devnest is organised by:

We had a lively event although a few people missed it this time. The presentations were as usual thought provoking, and of course the content is user generated because anyone can give a 'show and tweet' presentation.

But I guess the highlight was the skype based video conference with the Twitter API team who spent 45 minutes answering tough but fair questions about why the world cup caused twitter to slow down and other such things from our audience. Skype and the projection system worked well!

Next time we will master twin screen projection!

Warblecamp was impressive. The people, the challenges, the quality of the event environment and the committment everyone shared. It is not easy to pull off an event like this. It is extraordinary when it is self-organising. There was no evidence of *any* cross words or conflict either which says something about the community.

Multizone has been involved with Devnest for over a year now, and have put a lot of time into involvement and engagement with the startup developer entrepreneur and hobbyist community that come along. What we see at these events is focus, brilliance and fun with technology. What more is required? This is the point of the tech industry in the first place.

Consequently Multizone sponsored HackCamp. HackCamp was created because of the need of an event due to the postponing of BarCamp London 8. The concept is very inspired by the Yahoo! Open Hack Day concept. Because we can’t stay overnight at Google we didn’t dare to call it a HackDay, so HackCamp was born.
